Congratulations on reaching the OU College of Pharmacy Alumni Association website! As president of the College of Pharmacy Alumni Association for 2014-2015, I am looking forward to continuing the momentum started from previous years and opening new doors as they arise in the future.
I must admit, after graduation, I did not immediately get involved in the profession. But it didn’t take me long to realize the importance of doing something! Once you make the effort and set aside the necessary time to be involved, you will quickly realize the importance and benefits of participating in the pharmacy profession. I would like to encourage everyone to consider becoming active in the profession of pharmacy. There are many ways you can do this. There are professional organizations that support pharmacy on local, state, and national levels. These organizations are planning for the future of our profession and your support is important.
Most importantly, you can become an active member in the OU Pharmacy Alumni Association to support the college and the students as they make their way through the education experience.
You can become involved by giving monetarily, such as the Mortar and Pestle Society which assists the college in providing an exceptional education.
We are looking to grow the annual alumni-sponsored run even more in the coming year. We are looking at different run tracks to offer some variety but to still keep it on the OKC campus location. This is a lot of fun and provides something for everyone! You can run, walk, or even volunteer and be part of the event. This is slated for March 7, 2015. We will be changing the name of the event to the “Adrenaline Run” to offer different size tracks for runners. Stay on the lookout for more details in the future!
We also plan to continue the OU football homecoming pre-game reception on the courtyard of the student union which will begin 2 hours prior to kickoff. This will take place on Saturday October 18th before the game against Kansas State, so consider stopping by. We changed the format of the annual Alumni Awards presentation this past year and had the reception in Norman during July at the OPhA Convention. This year will be the 121st anniversary of the college and we will soon be considering different options and working on the 2015 reception to recognize the award recipients. I want to encourage each one of us to take advantage of this opportunity to recognize those in our profession who have made a difference. The next call for nominees is coming soon, so look for it!
I look forward to this coming year and any opportunities that may come our way. If you have any suggestions or comments, please let me know!
