Nationally Recognized Pharmacy Training
U.S. News & World Report has ranked the College of Pharmacy among the top 31 programs in the country. In 2021, we ranked as the #1 pharmacy school in the country for our NAPLEX first-time passage rate of 98% compared to the national average of 84%. We are also the top pharmacy school in the state of Oklahoma with the combined number of students who apply to PGY1 & PGY2 residencies and match to their desired program.
Unmatched Interprofessional Training and Experience
The College of Pharmacy is one of seven professional colleges under the OU Health Sciences Center, one of only a small number of comprehensive academic health centers in the United States. This provides myriad opportunities for exposure to the broadest range of health education.
Residencies
Residencies are available for students interested in direct patient care and clinical services. These last one to two years, depending on your career goals.
Your Postgraduate Year One (PGY1) is a general program designed to expose you to a variety of specialties. We offer 2 PGY1 residencies at OUCOP:

Onsite Nuclear Pharmacy
We are the only college of pharmacy in the United States to offer a fully operational nuclear pharmacy on campus. Our program offers a unique opportunity for those who wish to study radiopharmacy.
A Broad Range of Training Opportunities
We have more than 100 pharmacy training sites, including university-owned or affiliated pharmacies, hospitals and clinics. Pharmacy students receive diverse exposure to pharmacy’s integration into the practice of medicine. We also operate the only nationally-certified Poison & Drug Information Center in the state. OUHSC also has the only National Cancer Institute-designated public cancer center in the state.
Degree Specialization
The College of Pharmacy offers the opportunity to focus Pharm.D. electives into a degree option or specialty track. These offer additional education and training in the following areas:
Research
As a Carnegie R1 research university (the highest designation for research activity), our faculty are active in basic science and clinical research in areas such as cancer, diabetes, neurosciences and infectious diseases. COP faculty currently hold grants on local, state and federal levels from organizations such as the National Institute of Health, the Center for Disease Control, American Colleges of Clinical Pharmacy and the American Cancer Society.
We also house the OU Research Imaging Facility, a key component in imaging research and the operator of the world’s first Biomarker Generator and offer a specialty track in research for those students who may want to pursue research as a career option.
A Long History of Producing Top Graduates
The College of Pharmacy has been in operation since 1893, before Oklahoma became a state. Over the decades we have managed our growth to become a highly respected college, drawing top educators and researchers who provide exemplary learning opportunities for our students. In fact, the very first graduate from the University of Oklahoma was a College of Pharmacy graduate in 1896!
