The interprofessional team included 59 volunteers—dentists, physicians, physical therapists, a pharmacist, and students representing each discipline—working collaboratively to provide care to underserved communities.

Over the course of four clinic days at sites along the Ucayali River, the team delivered medical services to an impressive 2,564 patients.

The pharmacy team played a critical role in ensuring access to medications, filling prescriptions for all patients in need and supporting clinical operations across the sites.

In addition to dispensing medications, pharmacy students contributed to patient care by assisting with transportation of patients and supplies, as well as providing consultation on medication management, inventory coordination, and disease state considerations. Their efforts helped ensure safe, effective, and efficient delivery of care in a resource-limited setting.

This experience highlights the impact of interprofessional collaboration and reflects the College of Pharmacy’s commitment to service, global health, and preparing future pharmacists to meet healthcare needs both locally and abroad.
