However, exceptions may be considered in certain cases where the individual has earned a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy, or when personal circumstances have forced the individual to withdraw from another college of pharmacy. If there is available capacity in the program, applications for transfer or admission with advanced standing will be reviewed by an ad hoc committee appointed by the Dean of the College of Pharmacy. This committee will include representation from the Admissions Committee, the Academic Standings Committee, and the Curriculum Committee. If this initial review determines that the applicant merits continued consideration, an interview with the ad hoc committee will be scheduled.
Following the interview, the ad hoc committee will provide a recommendation about the applicant to the Dean of the College of Pharmacy. A recommendation for admission must specify the curriculum to be taken. College requirements for each transfer student will be individualized.
All students who receive the Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Oklahoma College of Pharmacy will generally be required to complete Pharmaceutical Care Modules II through X. Practicums during the fourth professional year are required for all students but may be modified if warranted by professional experience acquired by the applicant.
Required coursework may be waived if the applicant has taken comparable instruction from another college and earned a grade of C or above in these courses. The ad hoc committee may require that the applicant audit certain courses when their previous instruction may not have included pertinent material or if considerable time has elapsed since the coursework was completed.
The personal circumstances of students at the OU College of Pharmacy occasionally require that they transfer to another school. In such cases, the College will provide academic records, a description of coursework completed, and a statement of academic standing to the school to which the student wishes to transfer.
