Area of Specialization: Medicinal Chemistry
Medicinal chemistry involves the synthesis, identification, purification, structural determination, and structure-activity relationships of drugs and other medicinally active products. Altered gene expression in disease and use of genomic information for drug design are also areas of interest in medicinal chemistry. Research projects of the current faculty include studies on cystic fibrosis, drug-resistant bacteria, and cancer.
