
Institute specific research proposals:
- Study of the prevalence of treatment for hyperlipidemia in those
over the age of 75 years with HMG CoA reductase inhibitors and their
compliance and side effects with such therapy.
- Study of falls, fractures and automobile accidents resulting in
emergency room visits by older people, examining the role of inappropriate
medications as causative factors.
- Pilot studies on kinetics and dynamics of drug products in the
oldest of the elderly(> 85 years).
- Utilize existing databases managed by the college to develop additional
research programs in the oldest of the elderly.
- Partner with pharmacy organizations involved in providing nursing
home care to develop, implement and evaluate drug/disease management
programs.
Collaborative research activities with the Donald W. Reynolds Department
of Geriatric Medicine and other aging programs:
- Join in their development of a research division with a focus
on health services research that would assess the impact of various
types of delivery models and their impact on patient outcomes. Funding
for such activities is intended to be sought from relevant funding
agencies.
