Commencement Awards

Name of Award Description

Graduation with Distinction Award

Students who complete the pharmacy program with a professional grade-point average of 3.50-3.74. This honor is inscribed on the diploma and is designated in the commencement programs.

Graduation with Special Distinction Award

Students who complete the pharmacy program with a professional grade-point average of 3.75-4.00. This honor is inscribed on the diploma and is designated in the commencement programs.

Students who maintain a perfect 4.00 total grade-point average will also receive an OU Seal Medallion on a red and white ribbon as a separate recognition from University offices.

Valedictorian Award

Awarded to the graduating senior with the highest pharmacy grade point average (GPA).


Pharmacy Student Awards

Name of Award Description

Dean’s List

Pharmacy students who are enrolled full-time in good standing, earn a grade point average of 3.00 or above with no grades below b, and rank in the upper 20% of their class for each semester are placed on the Dean’s List.

Facts and Comparison Award

The Facts and Comparison Award is given to a graduating senior for outstanding scholastic achievement and demonstrated excellence in clinical communication.

 

Lilly Achievement Award

An engraved medallion is presented by Eli Lilly and Company to the graduating student with the highest achievement in the professional curriculum.

 

Merck Award

The Merck Award is presented to students for outstanding research and scholastic achievement. An engraved Merck Manual and Index are presented by Merck and Company.

 

Mosier Outstanding Senior Award

The Mosier Outstanding Senior Award is presented to a student for outstanding leadership. The trustees of the Henry D. and Ida Mosier Estate also recognize the student with an attractive stipend.

 

Most Congenial Senior Award

The Most Congenial Senior Award is presented to a student on each campus, who was voted by their classmates as “most popular colleague.”

 

Mylan Award

The Mylan Award is awarded to a graduating senior for academic excellence and high professional motivation. A famed certificate and the reference book “Drug Interactions Facts” are presented by Mylan Pharmaceuticals.

 

Natural Standard Research Collaboration Award

This award is presented to a graduating student for excellence in patient care and alternative therapies. The new edition, certificate, and a one year subscription to the Natural Medicines Comprehensive Database is presented as the award.

 

Oklahoma Pharmacists Association Award

This award is presented to a graduating student for outstanding professionalism achievement and leadership. A one-year membership is presented by the Oklahoma Pharmacists Association.

 

Oklahoma Society of Health-Systems Pharmacists Award

This award is presented to a graduating student for outstanding performance in hospital pharmacy. A certificate and one-year membership in OSHP are presented by the Oklahoma Society of Health Systems Pharmacists.

 

Outstanding Senior Leadership Award-College of Pharmacy

This award is presented to a graduating student for outstanding leadership within the college.

 

Pharmacy Student Affairs Professional Service Award

This award recognizes a graduating student who has made outstanding contributions to the OU College of Pharmacy, and demonstrated dedication to furthering the development of the college, specifically in the area of student affairs. The award, a book-style clock, is given by the college to a student on each campus.

 

TEVA Pharmaceuticals USA Award

This award is presented to a graduating student for excellence in the study of pharmacy. A certificate and stipend are presented by TEVA Pharmaceuticals USA.

 

United States Public Health Service Award

The USPHS Award is given for demonstrating commitment to public health and public health practice. The recipient will receive a plaque from USPHS.
