Kasey Thompson is a graduate of The University of Oklahoma College of Pharmacy, where he was awarded the Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy and the Doctor of Pharmacy degrees in 1998 and 1999, respectively. Kasey also holds a Bachelor of Science degree in cellular biology from Northeastern State University (NSU) in Tahlequah, OK, where he graduated in 1995. While attending OU, Kasey served as class president as well as president of the pharmacy student executive council, and was active in pharmacy associations at the state, and national levels. He was the 1999 recipient of the Deans Award for Outstanding Contributions to the OU College of Pharmacy.

In 1999-2000, Kasey became the first graduate from The University of Oklahoma College of Pharmacy to complete the prestigious Executive Residency program at the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) in Bethesda, MD. The ASHP Executive Residency has over a 30-year history of producing leaders in the pharmacy profession. After completing the ASHP Executive Residency, Kasey was appointed as the Director of the ASHP Center on Patient Safety. The Center on Patient Safety serves as the nucleus for ASHP's activities related to quality improvement and patient safety in the medication-use process in hospitals and health systems. His day-to-day work has him regularly engaged in advocacy, education, and research initiatives on behalf of health system pharmacy. Kasey has made numerous presentations across the nation on the subject of improving safety and quality in the medication-use process, and is a strong voice for pharmacists on this issue.

Kasey is a native of Muskogee, Oklahoma, and currently resides in McLean, Virginia.
