Christopher L. May

Awards


In 1995, Christopher May graduated cum laude from the Southwestern Oklahoma State University School of Pharmacy. There, he was a member of the Rho Chi Pharmaceutical Honor Society and a historian of the Delta Beta chapter of Kappa Psi. During his pursuit of a bachelors degree in pharmacy he received the Burroughs Wellcome Scholarship for Academic Achievement in 1993, the Walter L. Dickison Scholarship in 1994 and the Schering-Plough Outstanding Patient Care Award in 1995.

Chris accepted a position as a clinical pharmacist at Integris Baptist Medical center in 1996 and began work on a doctorate of pharmacy degree at the University of Oklahoma College of Pharmacy in 2000. He received the Henry and Ida Mosier Academic Achievement Award in 2001, and upon his graduation from the program in 2002, he accepted the pharmacy clinical services coordinator position at St. Anthony Hospital.

Over the last two years, Chris has been the Program Committee Co-Chairperson for the Oklahoma Society of Health System Pharmacists and has become an assistant professor in the Department of Pharmacy Practice at Southwestern Oklahoma State University. He is also an adjunct faculty member of the University of Oklahoma School of Pharmacy and a professor of pharmacology at the Oklahoma City Universitys Krammer School of Nursing. He has recently become certified in the disease state management of anticoagulation by the National Association of Boards of Pharmacys National Institute for Standards in Pharmacist Credentialing and has initiated the St. Anthony Hospital Anticoagulation Clinic where pharmacists participate in collaborative practice with physicians.

Chris and his wife, Lily Kwan, a 1996 graduate of the University of Oklahoma College of Pharmacy who specializes in transplant and pediatric pharmacy at Integris Baptist Medical Center, reside in Edmond, Oklahoma.
