
Lauri is a 1995 graduate of the University of Oklahoma College of Pharmacy. She is currently a certified specialist in poison information and working at the Oklahoma Poison Control Center, operated by The University of Oklahoma College of Pharmacy as a statewide service to provide information on poisons to the public and health care professionals. In addition to triaging telephone calls on poison exposures, Lauri has provided various programs on poison prevention to organizations throughout the state, including businesses, retirement centers, healthcare providers and parents. During her five years at the Oklahoma Poison Control Center over two-thirds of the elementary children (K-3) have received poison education through the Center. She has worked with the SAFE KIDS Coalition for two years as chairperson of the Home Safety Committee. Lauri has become involved with many other activities promoting the safety of children and has coordinated Poison-Prevention Week activities for elementary school children during her five years in the center. Lauri also works as a part-time staff pharmacist at Baptist Integris Hospital. She is further involved in teaching a portion of a course in toxicology taught at the OU College of Pharmacy. Since graduation Lauri married Andrew Gormley, who is completing a residency in pediatrics at Oklahoma Children's Memorial Hospital. They have two dogs, Mosie and Kassi. Lauri and Mosie provide pet therapy at the Ronald McDonald House and Alterra. Additionally, Lauri works with the Oklahoma City Literacy Council. |
