
Gary Clinton graduated from The University of Oklahoma College of Pharmacy in 1969. In addition to being a student, Gary was a letterman on the OU track team. After serving two-years as Chief of Pharmacy at Lyster Army Hospital, Gary returned to Norman in 1971 to begin his practice at Physicians and Surgeons Pharmacy, soon to become its owner. He has been co-owner and general manager of both Med-Serv DME and Apple Medical selling and leasing hospital beds, wheelchairs and other medical equipment and supplies. In 1984 Gary organized Option Care Pharmacy, serving as president and general manager, providing home infusion therapy in two franchise locations. Since 1995 Gary has been Executive Director for Norman Physician Hospital Organization (NPHO), a healthcare network owned by Norman Regional Hospital and the Norman Physician Association having a mission "to provide cost effective, quality healthcare to the people of the region." Gary is a member of the Oklahoma Pharmacists Association (OPhA) and the American Pharmaceutical Association, as well as the American Association of Integrated Healthcare Delivery Systems. He was recipient of the Ralph D. Bienfang Outstanding Practitioner Award, and was selected as the Syntex Preceptor of the Year in 1983. Gary has served as a preceptor at both P&S Pharmacy and at Option Care and been a member of the OU College of Pharmacy Preceptor Task Force as well as the college's Curriculum Committee. Additionally, he has served on several Task Forces for the State Board of Pharmacy, and on OPhA committees. Gary has many civic affiliations, including serving as a member of the Board of Directors for Health for Friends of Norman, a community health care assistance agency; on the Norman Regional Home Care Services Professional Advisory Board; and as Board of Education Clerk for the Moore Norman Technology Center. He has been on the Board of Directors of the Norman Chamber of Commerce, serving as vice-president of Economic Development. He is also a member of the Norman Business Association, having been named Business Person of the Year on two occasions. Gary represents his profession by serving as a speaker on pharmacy-related issues before various groups in Norman and authors news articles in an effort to promote an increased awareness of drug use and abuse in his community. He is as active member of the First Christian Church in Norman, and serves as a deacon. Gary and Pamela have a son residing in Los Angeles. Their daughter, Emily, is a senior student at OU. Gary presents a positive profile for pharmacy to his peers and to his community. |
